If you have never fished for a fish as beautiful as the Arctic Grayling you are missing out. If you have, you know what we are talking about. The grayling is a fish like no other; it’s style and color are unmatched by any other freshwater fish. Their sail-like dorsal and pelvic fins light up under water like neon signs.
Grayling are ideal fish to pursue with fly gear as they readily take properly presented flies both sub surface and on top. Grayling are often seen cruising shallow shoals or rising for tiny midges where they can be sight fished.
Grayling are found in several alpine lakes within close proximity to Calgary, AB and can be the perfect trip during spring runoff periods, when the rivers are blown out from snow melt. We are able to offer several different grayling lakes involving hikes ranging from short to moderate in length. As with most fishing scenarios the further you are willing to walk from the beaten path the more likely you are to be rewarded for your efforts.
